• The Future of Our Church – from Rev. Welch

Dear Friends and Members of the United Church of Norman-UCC

I want our membership and friends to know about a special congregational meeting being held Sunday, September 3rd at 9:45 a.m. It will take the place of our normal Conversation Sunday though we will have a shared potluck and discussion.

The discussion will be about the future of this church. The discussion will be led by the executive board of the church. While it is structured, the goal is to raise any issue needed to chart a path forward. Among the topics under consideration include:

-The future of Rev. Dwight Welch as the pastor of the United Church of Norman UCC
-The recommendations of Rev. David Wheeler, in terms of a growth plan
-The structure of the United Church of Norman UCC
-How worship, adult education is organized

But if there are any other ideas, recommendations, worries, hopes for the church not named, we want to create the space needed to raise those. For that purpose, I as the pastor, will not be attending this meeting. Our hope is that people can express themselves freely.

But not everyone is apt to speak at meetings. So if you have written ideas, feel free to send them to Mark Tanton, our church’s president, by e-mail to mark.tanton45@gmail.com
