Dear Friends and Members of the United Church of Norman-UCC
The next two weeks I will not be preaching on Sunday. The first Sunday is Conversation Sunday. Joe Ward, chief investigator for Oklahoma County public defender’s office he will speak on issues of Poverty and Crime. He spent 45 years as a special investigator for the Oklahoma and Texas Indigent Defense System in the Capitol Crimes Division.
The second Sunday, Samuel McCann, a student at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary will lead a discussion on Christology during our worship time. The first Sunday I’ll be leading worship at Pauls Valley First Presbyterian. The second Sunday I’ll be enjoying the presentation by Samuel and inviting folks to lunch afterwards to continue the conversation.
The third Sunday, I’d like to do an experiment. I’d like to preach on topics you’ve raised. If you have any questions or topics you’d like covered this Sunday email me at firstname.lastname@example.org and I’ll include them into the sermon. We’ll also start tweaking the service and its layout and the worship committee is looking into feed back as we try various changes.
So far I have received two topics. The origins of hell and the origins of the virgin birth story. As I get more I’ll put together a sermon addressing any questions you’ve sent. I appreciate everyone’s help and participation in putting together August 20th’s sermon.
